  1. 1871 Lord Street, Millom, Cumberland. There was a servant a Henry KITCHIN aged 13 a Butchers Servant born Millom, Cumberland.
1881 40 Newton street, Millom, Cumberland. With the family was an Ellen LAMBE aged 54 a Housekeeper born Ulverston, Lancashire, a Thomas WETHERAL a servant aged 34 a Butcher born Askrigg, Yorkshire and an Emily Jane COCK aged 14 a Servant Domestic, born Cornwal.
I believe the Robert Roper ATKINSON married again in June quarter 1884 in Bootle Cul district, Cumberland to a Sarah EMMETT (BROWN) The marriage of Sarah BROWN was to a Jonas EMMETT in 1871 in Millom, Cumberland. Jonas died in 1874 and she marriage as Sarah EMMETT in 1884 to Robert Roper ATKINSON. Jonas EMMETT was born in 1841. Sarah was born in 1845 in Manchester district, Lancashire.
1891 Butchers Shop, 44 Newton street, Millom, Cumberland. With the family was a Mary J ATKINSON aged 14 born Millom, Cumberland.
There are two children for Eleanor, Samuel born 1871 and died 1877 aged 6 and Mary Eleanor born 1870 and died 1885 aged 15 buried with her and her husband at St Mary Magdalene, Broughton-in-Furness, Lancashire. This makes with Hannah three children for this couple.
1911 42 Newton Street, Millom, Bootle, Cumberland. Robert is down as being born in Osmotherly but I am certain correct Robert as he is down as a retired butcher, his wife is Sarah aged 66 having been married 27 years she was born in Muncaster, Cumberland, with them is Ann BROWN down as Sister-in-Law single born Muncaster, Cumberland but with them is a William Whineray ATKINSON grandson aged 8 born Millom Cumberland. It is the Whineray as second name of this Grandson which says this is the correct family.
1914 The National Probate Calendar had the following:
ATKINSON Robert Roper of Newton Street, Millom Cumberland retired butcher died 8 June 1914 Probate Carlisle to William Atkinson butcher and Sarah Atkinson widow. Effects £1156 5s. 6d.

  9. Samuel appears on the Gravestone at St Mary Magdalene, Broughton-in-Furness, Lancashire, he is shown as six on transcription of gravestone but I think the entries I have found on the BMD are more accurate as the Gravestone is very difficult to read.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
