  1. 1851 Census - Low Road, Mettingham, Suffolk. George was 6 on this Census, born St Lawrence, Suffolk, His father was Cornelius BEDDINGFIELD, age 33, a farmer of 25 acres employing 1 Labourer, he was born in Beccles, Suffolk, Cornelius was married to Mary who was 36 and born in St Andrews, Suffolk. There were two other children, William, aged 8 born St Lawrence, Suffolk, and Mary aged 3 also born in St Lawrence, Suffolk.
1861 Census - George Bedingfield was a Grocer's Apprentice, age 16 on North Side, Earsham Street, Bungay, Suffolk. He was employed by a William COCKS, a Grocer employing 6 assistants. He was interestingly also the Wesleyan Local Preacher.
1871 Census - Mettingham, Suffolk. On the particular Census page there is no details of address.
1881 Census - Low Road, Mettingham, Suffolk - Emma Ann ARCHER was with this family on the 1881 as well, see Note 4, on the 1881 Census she is down as a Governess, Unemployed
1891 Census - Found this family at Low Road, Mettingham, Suffolk which shows my idea that George BEDINGFIELD was married previously and by the fact that Mary Ann's sister who although age 55 is down as single was living with them I have put ARCHER as the maiden name of Mary Ann. Details Sister-in-Law is Emma A ARCHER age 55 Living on her own means, born Holy Trinity, Bungay, Suffolk
1901 Census, Litchmore Farm, Kirby Cane, Norfolk
1911 Census - Lower Olland St Bungay Suffolk. George with his daughter Jessie was a Boarder with a Harriett REEVE a widow aged 59 born Bungay, Suffolk.
On the 1901 Census there was also a Annie J Fairhead, Age 13 Domestic Servant, born Ditchingham, Norfolk, living with the family
I have put George as marrying twice as on the 1901 Census Marion is down as his daughter. If this is correct he must have had another relationship. He married Jessie in 1898 and even if she had had Marion before marriage she would have only 13 years old at the time. So I think I have come up with the correct solution.
  2. 1861 Census - Only one Mary ARCHER comes up of the right age for being born in Suffolk and she is a Mary Ann ARCHER so possibly the right one, on the following Censuses however she is down as being born in Bungay, wheras the Mary Ann ARCHER on the 1861 Census is born in Halesworth, so might not be the correct one. A large family where a William ARCHER is the Head, he is a Butcher.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
