For Family Archives and interested relatives. It is regretted that
Arthur Harry COBB 96 years died at the Vandean Nursing Home on Sunday 18.6.06. For family lineage see COBB Chart 0308 Pages 266-269 of the informative History of the COBB Family - compiled by Jean Wheaton (relation) with assistance of family contributors. Funeral-Cremation is at Bournemouth Crematorium on 29.6.06. R.I.P Personal memories for posterity. Arthur as a widower -wife Evelyn Pearce who was the daughter of a London Policeman. Arthur first met her when he was an apprentice Carpenter in RINGWOOD Hants. They had 4 children -3 boys and 1 girl.
Arthur eventually joined the Metropolitan Police in London where he retired on Pension after 30 years. (A Police Pension of 47 years ?) His particular forte was as a motor patrol officer achieving the Rank of Sgt. On retirement he became an Official Road Traffic Driving Examiner in the London area. I well remember him taking my wife Mary for a mock Road Test and he praised her ability. He eventually returned to the Ringwood area - having been born at Kingston Common. He was indirectly responsible for me joining the Constabulary and serving 32 years in Gloucestershire. I am told that his Father Harry was a Policeman in London for some time and he had a cousin Fred COBB who was a Det. Sgt at New Scotland Yard also from the Hampshire area. (Now lives in South Devon - has been informed.) Fred COBB also had a son in the Dorset Police- Det. Sgt Dudley COBB -recently retired. Direct relationship. Arthur was my Fathers first Cousin. This gets complicated ie. My Grandmother Jane COBB was the Sister of Arthur's Father (Harry) and my Grandfather W. J. Wilkins, was the brother of Arthur's mother, Florence !!!!  My wife and I visited him at Vandean Nursing Home, where he was very well looked after and he was delighted to show us around, and part of the Furniture !! " Old Policemen never die they only fade away." Apologies for any inaccuracies -from personal memories.
    Ralph Wilkins. 4.5.1935

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
