    From Easter 1863 ro 1866 David Cobb was mentioned in the Church Warden's accounts in connection with the yearly rate levied from parishioners for the up-keep of the Church. David's House was rated at £2.0s.0d on which he had to pay 2d a year.

Edward 29 Fishmonger, born Bedford, Bedfordshire (a Jonathan CONSTANT contacted me on 30th June 2005 regarding this family and he is related to Edward), then Emily 25 her occupation looks like Tailors wife, but she is down as unmarried so perhaps it is not wife, born in Bedford, Bedfordshire. Ellen 22 born Barnet, Hertfordshire, John 15 born Barnet< Hertfordshire and Edith 8 a Scholar born Barnet, Hertfordshire. (Edith was a witness at the wedding of Elizabeth and John
    1871 High Street, Barnet, Hertfordshire. John was a Lodger at this address with a Cabra EMBERLEY as the head, who was a widow aged 64 a Laundress, born Shenley, Hertfordshire. There were lots of other occupants, another five lodgers. A son-in-law, a daughter, a granddaughter and a brother

    There is no Samuel baptised in East Stoke church in 1854. Winifred WILTON née COBB often spoke of a Samuel. Was the name interchangeable? Later research would seem to  suggest that this was the case. See note below

Given that Amos Samuel COBB used the name Amos from his arrival in Canada in 1882 until at least the 1901 Census it would seem probable that these references to a Samuel COBB refer to another person. However, as it would seem the name could be interchangeable this information has been included until shown not to apply.
