  1. 1841 Three Full Lane, St Mary, Southampton, Hampshire
1851 Detached Cottage, St Mary Southampton, Hampshire
1861 1 New Road, St Mary, Southampton, Hampshire. On this Census James was married, under him is a Jane DACOMBE down as daughter in law aged 28 born Cowes, Isle of Wight, Hampshire (on the charts sent the wife is down as Frances), also with the family was a Thomas DACOMB aged 5 a Scholar born Southampton, Hampshire and an Emily DACOMB aged 1 born Southampton, Hampshire
1871 1 New Road, St Mary, Southampton, Hampshire.
1881 49 Cobden Terrace, Stone Mason Yard, St Mary, Southampton, Hampshire.
1891 49 New Road, St Mary, Southampton, Hampshire.
1901 49 New Road, St Mary, Southampton, Hampshire.  They had a servant an Elizabeth Baker aged 18 a General Domestic born Southampton, Hampshire.
1911 49 New Road, Southampton, Hampshire, with him was his daughter Kant and a Mary Elizabeth BAKER aged 28 a Housemaid (Servant) born Southampton, Hampshire. James has put himself down as a Widower and having been married 51 years and having had 11 children 6 of whom survive at the date of this Census and 5 of whom had died. (This ties up with the information on chart above, I have 11 children and Alexander, Emily, Ada, Ernest and Roscoe have died)
I have found the marriage where I have put down possibly as on the 1861 the wife is down as Jane but on the marriage she is down as Janet, but as it was in the Isle of Wight and Jane/Janet was born in Cowes and the taking the ages of the oldest child into account I do believe this is the correct marriage.
  2. 1861 1 New Road, St Mary, Southampton, Hampshire.
1871 1 New Road, St Mary, Southampton, Hampshire.

1911 74 Alma Road, Southampton, Hampshire. They had a General servant domestic an Annie PLASCOTT aged 20 born Southampton, Hampshire. Emily is down as having been married 11 years and having had no children.
(Children on the chart I was sent do not tie up with what I have found, they are listed as Ida married 1910 Southampton, Hilda (a Governess) unmarried and a son who went to the USA, as can be seen I believe there was only a Maude Matilda DACOMBE from the first marriage of Walter James). Have now found these three children as children of Emily Jane DACOMBE who married a Sidney WALDEN.

1911 26 Silverdale Road, Southampton, Hampshire. With them was a Boarder a Charles A B ROBERTSON aged 24 born Twickenham, London an Articled Pupil to Land Agent.
The charts I was sent show these two children but Cecil born 1915 and Peggy 1916. We already have Roscoe the other child on the 1911 census.
1936 DACOMBE Cecil Frere of 170 Millbrook-road, Southampton died 1 October 1936 Administration London 19 October to Daisy Maud Dacombe widow. Effects £588 13s. 2d. (National Probate Calendar)

Some of the comments on the chart above are taken from the charts sent to me, ie at present I myself have nothing to prove Walter and Cecil were Mayors of Southampton. Information for baptisms and actual marriage dates have been taken from the IGI. Found a list since then that says Walter was Mayor of Southampton as shown, it is a full list from early times to 2005 and it only shows Walter Dacombe as Mayor, no other DACOMBE's at all are shown.

Again I have found enough information to start the following charts, I am sure when I put these on more information will be found.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
