Colin STOCKBRIDGE told me that Emily FEDARB née HADLEY had a sister Mary HADLEY, who was murdered, I have found the following details:
    20th August 1857
    Stephen Fox – Canterbury
“The engagement is off!” Mary Hadley, 25, stormed at her fiancé Stephen Fox. “Here, take your ring back!” She had just heard that Fox had made another girl pregnant and understandably, perhaps, she no longer wanted to marry him.
Fox, 23, nursed his wounded pride for a couple of days, then told a neighbour in St. Mary Northgate, Canterbury, that he was going to shoot Mary. The neighbour warned the Hadley family and Mary left her house to sleep that night with a woman friend. But next morning Fox, armed with two pistols, waylaid her outside the city’s cavalry barracks. He fired both weapons, and one bullet hit Mary in the thigh. She died a few minutes later from loss of blood.
Fox was hanged on Thursday, 20th August 1857 at Maidstone, Kent, with a George Edwards
  3. 1861 Census - 6 Black Griffin Lane, Westgate, Canterbury St Peter, Kent
1871 Census - 53 Black Griffin Lane, Canterbury St Peter, Kent
1881 Census - 53 Black Griffin Lane, Canterbury St Peter, Kent
1901 Census - 32 Somerset Road, Ashford, Kent
1911 Census - 32 Somerset- Road Ashford Kent. With William and Louisa was her brother Arthur aged 41 single a Labourer Casual born Stone Oxney, Kent
  4. 1871 Census - 53 Black Griffin Lane, Canterbury St Peter, Kent
1881 Census - 53 Black Griffin Lane, Canterbury St Peter, Kent
1901 Census - 17 Channel View ???, Plymouth, Devon. - Cannot find on 1891 Census. - Found a marriage on the BMD for Frederick FEDARB to either a Ruth FIELD or a Mary Florence TERRY. By finding Frederick on the 1901 in Devon married to a Ruth it suggested that Ruth was the right person. However there is a Harriet FIELD, sister in law living with them, aged 55, born Canterbury, Kent, which confirms that I have the right couple. There was no issue in 1901.
1911 68 Belmont Rd, St Andrews, Bristol, Gloucestershire. Frederick and Ruth are down as having been married 26 years and having had no children. With them is Harriett Jane FIELD sister-in-law aged 64 born Canterbury, Kent and an Edith Margaret HARLES a niece aged 10 born Newbury, Berkshire.
  5. 1871 Census - 53 Black Griffin Lane, Canterbury St Peter, Kent
1881 Census - 53 Black Griffin Lane, Canterbury St Peter, Kent
1891 ???laue Street, Warrington. Visitors at the home of Charles and Emma BRINDLEY. Servant Clare JONES born 1873 Runcorn, Cheshire (sister of William)
1901 Census - 195 Manchester Road, Oldham, Lancashire

I have been given further information regarding this family by a Colin STOCKBRIDGE
  6. 1881 Census - 53 Black Griffin Lane, Canterbury St Peter, Kent
1891 17 St George Street, Canterbury, Kent
1901 Census - 17 St Georges Street, Canterbury, Kent. Although this is not a direct connection to our family, I will add a Chart for these families at some stage in the future. On this Census this family had the following children, Wilfred L Fedarb abt 1896 Canterbury Son Canterbury Kent, Alexandra V Fedarb abt 1897 Canterbury Daughter Canterbury Kent , Victoria M Fedarb abt 1898 Canterbury Daughter Canterbury Kent. There was also a Servant - Annie Goldsack abt 1880 Canterbury Servant Canterbury Kent

I have been given further information regarding the family of Walter FEDARB and his family from a Denis BRIGHT, Alexandra Fedarb being his Grandmother, will add the Chart for this family in the near future and include all the information we have for the family.
    Family moved to Woking, Surrey
  7. 1871 Census - 53 Black Griffin Lane, Canterbury St Peter, Kent
1881 Census - 21 Castle Row, Parish of St Mildred, Canterbury, Kent. With their Grandparents on this Census.

1881 Census - 53 Black Griffin Lane, Canterbury St Peter, Kent
1891 Census - 77 Easton Street, St Pancras, Middlesex. Edwin was a Boarder with a Joseph ARCHER and family.
1901 Census - 4 Hilder Terrace, Hanover Rd, Canterbury, Kent. Two children on this census - Ellen aged 3 born Tonbridge, Kent and Ethel 2 born Canterbury, Kent. I think the marriage I have found on the BMD is correct especially as their first child was born in Tonbridge. However the names given for the females on the BMD with Edwin are Naomi HOLLAMBY and Rebecca Emma E JANES. It is quite possible that either of them could have been his wife and known as Ellen but I do not know which.

1881 Census - 53 Black Griffin Lane, Canterbury St Peter, Kent

    1911 Census - 20 Notley Canterbury, Kent

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SPELLING OF FEDARB VARIES ON THE BMD AND ON THE CENSUS RETURNS, ON ANCESTRY.COM IT IS BEST TO SEARCH WITH FED* BUT EVEN THEN THIS DOES NOT COVER ALL THE VARIATIONS. NORMALLY THIS IS ANCESTRY.COM's INTERPRETATION OF THE NAME, BUT IN MANY CASES EVEN LOOKING AT THE CENSUS IT DOES NOT APPEAR AS FEDARB. I THINK THE ENUMERATORS HAD A JOB DECIDING HOW TO SPELL IT.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
