  1. 1841 Census - Haven Street, Newchurch, Ryde, Isle of Wight, Hampshire
1851 Census - Pond Cart, Newchurch, Ryde, Isle of Wight, Hampshire. Jacob in same household but down separately and married.
1861 Census - Fort Place, Brading, Isle of Wight, Hampshire.  (married with two children)
1871 Census - Fort Street, Brading, Isle of Wight, Hampshire. Jacob is a widower on this census, he is a lodger with a George DOWNER a Publican.
1881 Census - Newport Road, Brading, Isle of Wight, Hampshire. Jacob a widower is lodging with an Ellen BOOKER and her four daughters, there was another lodger.
Lots of people in property, relations of George DOWNER, ie Brothers, Mother, Sister and four other lodgers as well as Jacob.
I think this is likely to be the correct marriage for Jacob, I have found Jacob on the 1861 Census and there are two children an Ellen born in Brading, Isle of Wight and a Walter born in Brighton, Sussex, but Ellen was not with them but Jacob is down as married not widowed. The Ellen shows up on the Isle of Wight Family History Web Site with a MAYERS as her mothers maiden name. I would think on the 1851 census they had only just married and a marriage in the March quarter of 1851 would fit with this. There is not a marriage to be found for Jacob but searching for an Ellen MAYER the marriage shown comes up, but there is two females and only one male, so this would possibly explain why I cannot find the marriage.
  2. 1851 Census - Pond Cart, Newchurch, Ryde, Isle of Wight, Hampshire. Jacob in same household but down separately and married.
  3. 1861 Census - Fort Place, Brading, Isle of Wight, Hampshire.
  4. 1861 Census - Fort Place, Brading, Isle of Wight, Hampshire.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
