    Notes
Letter from Mrs Florence CARPENTER 17 May 1984

"During the First World War Matilda POWELL went to work at Chipstead Golf Club. Albert POWELL was in the Army so Agnes POWELL went with her daughter Olive to Chipstead out of the Zeppelin raids. Granddad went at weekends and did the donkey work, Grandma did the cooking and dishing up and Aggie waited at table and if I behaved myself I was allowed to take in the cheese course, half a small Cheddar wrapped in a serviette, and a tin of cheese biscuits, which were served to every table. My family had a lot to thank Aggie for, she was always there in a time of family crisis".
Letter from Mrs Florence CARPENTER 31 May 1984
"Matilda had a confectionery and tobacco shop with Uncle Charlie at Earlsfield. Very capable person and very much the matriarch all her life. She brought up her mother's family and had a sizeable family of her own and in her old age was a housekeeper to Uncle Charlie and his family. Wherever help was needed she was always there. We were all scared of her when we were children but I had a lot of compassion for her in her old age"

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
