  1. A Tony MAXTED sent me an email on 17th January 2007 as follows:
My connection with the Knight Family is via Sarah Knight born 22/3/1779, baptised 23/3/1779 at St Marys Sandwich, daughter of Rowland & Elizabeth, She was Buried on 2/2/1856 at Boatman Hill,Sandwich.
She married William Mantell in around 1802, alas I have been unable to locate the place of marriage, but from document Sa/AC9 ( Freemen of Sandwich) William Mantle was made a Freeman of Sandwich on 28/6/1802 by marriage to Sarah daughter of Rowland Knight.
The last time I visited Canterbury Cathedral Archives I researched the Knight family in Sandwich back to Rowland Knight & Mary Anthony's marriage in St Lawrence on 12/8/1735, I found your research as published on John's web site, 800 & 701 to be broadly correct although I seem to have found another couple of children.
I have doubts about the earlier part of the tree because as I mentioned in my previous mail Rowland served an apprenticeship in Sandwich and thus became a Freeman on 16/12/1725 I think it unlikely that he left Sandwich between then and 1735 when he married, so if the connection between him and Mary Anthony started in London it would need to have been before he started his training, As you will have seen on his St Lawrence marriage entry, he is listed as from St Peters, Sandwich & She is from St Lawrence. If she knew him from London would they not have married there or in Sandwich ? I searched St Lawrence PR for Mary's baptism but alas did not find it but did find evidence of an Anthony family in the area. So to be honest unless more evidence becomes available I don't think the Westminster connection can be viewed as anything more than a nice idea !

  3. From this you will see that he does not agree with Thomas KNIGHT and Elizabeth VOKINS as being the parents of Rowland and therefore the birth place and date of the son Rowland KNIGHT might also be inaccurate.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
