  1. IGI baptism
  2. I received on 24th December 2007 from a Brian MARCUS details of Maria RACE on the chart above and her descendants, I will add the information to this and the charts off of it.
  3. 1841 census, Gt Marlborough Street. Westminster, St James (HO107 / 735 / 1 / folio 12 / page 17 / line 10) Maria RACE, 24, Female Servant, born in county. (With a Governess & 2 other servants at home of Bram HERTH(?), a Merchant,  and family)
  4. Brian MARCUS writes: Marriage : 9 October 1842: Maria RACE, Bloomsbury 1, 56, DEC 1842. Checked for matching entry and found  it referred to Henry MARK. Married at St Gile's in the Fields. 14/12/99: Received marriage cert. Henry MARK is shown as a tailor, of full  age, living in Goodge St. Maria is shown as of full age, living in John St.  Her father is shown as Isaac RACE (which confirms details I already have), a farmer. However, Henry's father is shown as Joseph MARK (a tailor), which is different to that (Edward) shown on his second marriage cert. Maria made her mark in place of a signature. Carey's 1836 map shows John Street ran south from Grafton Street, parallel  to Tottenham Ct Road, to Windmill Street. It is now called Whitfield Street.
  5. 1851 census, 9, Marylebone Lane, Marylebone:, Middlesex (HO107/ 1487 / folio 29 / page 54)
  6. Details on Sarah Ann's death certificate: Reg. District: Lambeth, Sub District: Waterloo Second Part, Surrey. No.360. 14th May 1852, at 18, Lambeth Sq, Sarah Ann MARK, female, aged 4yrs, daughter of Henry MARK (Tailor), of Fits, about 20 hrs. Certified. Informant: Maria MARK, present at death, of 18, Lambeth Square, Lambeth, who made her mark. Registered 17th May 1852
  7. Details of Alfred MARK's birth from his certificate:  Alfred: Reg. District: Lambeth, Sub-District: Waterloo 2nd Part, Surrey. No.359. 21st April 1852, 18, Lambeth Square, Alfred, a boy, the son of Henry MARK, a Tailor, and Maria MARK, formerly RACE. Informant: Henry MARK of 18, Lambeth Square. Registered 15th May 1852.
  8. Then Family name was changed to MARCUS between Alfred and Sarah
  9. Details of death of Maria: 27th September 1857, Portsea Town, Portsea Island, County of Southampton. Entry No: 58. Twenty seventh September 1857, Saint James' Street, Maria MARCUS, Female,  38, Wife of Henry MARCUS, Outfitter, died of Effusion on the Brain. Informant: William SWANSON, Deputy Coroner, High Street, Portsmouth.  Registered 30th September 1857. (Maria's age at death, 38, would give a d.o.b. about 1819)

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
