    FUNERAL MONDAY HONORS PIONEER D.S.T. OAKLEY, 76
    JENSEN --Funeral services for Mrs. DST Stewart Oakley, 76, were held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Jensen Ward Chapel. Bishop Warren L. Billings was in charge.
    She passed away Friday morning May 16th at the Idle Wilde Rest Home in Vernal.
    Opening prayer was by Moroni Moon and Bishop Billings read a brief life history of Mrs. Oakley which was written by June Stewart. Speakers were Driver E. Smith and Archie Johnson.
    "Mother Machree" was sung by Gerald Caldwell and "My Father Knows" by the Jensen Singing Mothers, consisting of Joan Gross, Gladys Slaugh, Lucinda Sewell, Ella Ainge, Marie Brimhall, Lucille Taylor, Gertrude Turner, Gladys Peterson, Barbara Slaugh and Marynell Snow. Margaret Caldwell was accompanist.
    "Softly and Tenderly" was sung by Corwin Snow, accompanied by Naomi Dudley. Closing prayer was by Orvil Dudley.
    Burial was in the Jensen Cemetery under the supervision of the Vernal Mortuary. Bishop Warren Billings dedicated the grave.
    Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, Ezra, Raymond, Luther, Guy, Fritz and Enoch Steart.
    Alta Stewart was in charge of the flowers and lunch was served after the services at the home of Alice Snow under the supervision of Gladys and Barbara Slaugh and Joan Gross with Elsi Haslem, Ella Ainge and Mrs. Snow assisting.
    Mrs. DST Stewart Oakley was born April 28, 1882 at Springville, a daughter of Parna Ann and Esli Stewart. Her family moved to Jensen the fall of 1879 when she was three years old. They homesteaded at Jensen.
    As a little girl Mrs. Oakley learned to quilt, sew, make soap and preserve food. She made her first quilt when she was only six years old. This hobby has been a part of her life and she has given away dozens of beautiful quilts.
    She received her education in the first schools built in Jensen, one being a little adobe building. She was married to William E. Oakley at Jensen In 1897. They had one child. Mrs. Pearl Johnston. The Oakleys built a home on their ranch at Jensen and Mrs. Oakley always had a beautiful flower garden. Mr. Oakley died February 8, 1937.
    Survivors are daughter, Mrs. Pearl Johnston, a grandson, Asa R. Johnston and three great-grandchildren, all of Vernal, a sister, May M. Johnson, Sunderland, Vermont and a brother Lloyd Stewart of Jensen.
    Out-of-town people attending were Iva Stewart, Margaret Nicholsen, Mary Stewart and Erma Collett, Salt Lake City; Enoch Stewart, Murray; the Wiley Stewarts of Worland, Wyoming; the George Taylors of Roosevelt asnd Jennie Merriam and Venice Pearce of Meeker.
