Mary SIMMONS writes in her email of 17th March 2011 about the father of Henry OFFOR as follows:
George Offor the father of Henry Offor was  a well known editor of  Pilgrims Progress and much research about the Offors has been done by Anne Offor who lives in Tasmania
Although I have put an open box back to OFFOR 0400 I do not intend going any further back as there are numerous children for George OFFOR the father of Henry (at least 20)
However on a family tree on Ancestry.com I have found the following details of George which might be of interest to anyone looking at this chart
George Offor was born on the 30th July n 1787. He was one of five children. Little is known about the origins of the Offors, there appears to be an Arthur Offor in the 1500's in Suffolk but also a lot of Offors in Wiltshire. I cannot find any connections as yet to any of them, so it appears the Offor family of London came from knowhere!
George Offor was a bibliographer translating bibles from Hebrew, Greek, Latin, he had a vast Library at his house in Hackney (Grove House) including books that went back to Caxton, and his passion Pilgrims Progress which he edited at some time during his life. He at one stage went to Belgium and got caught up in the civil war there and imprisoned for a time over there. He married twice, his first wife dying with comsumption. His second marriage produced at least 14 children that are recorded!!! He was a passionate Baptist, his children all baptised when older into the religion.
An Offor monument is still to this day in Abney Park Cemetery London. Showing his wife and various children and of course himself in the tomb.
His library was to be auctioned at Sothebys, but after the first day, the building caught fire and most of his massive collection was lost.
George was also J.P. as some stage in his later life, there exist many letters he has written to various people of some note, he was obviously passionate about religion, politics, and family.
I do thank  an Ann OFFER in Australia for this information.
  2. 1881 9 Market Street, Deal, Kent. The family were lodging with a Thomas NOBLE in Elham, Kent. Thomas was 62 a Coal Dealer, his wife Ann was 67 born Word?, Kent and they had with them their duaghter Anne E aged 34 born Deal, Kent and Elizabeth SMITH Mother Widow aged 75 born Sandwich, Kent. Henry OFFOR was not with the family.
1891 33 Shore Road, South Hackney, London. They had two servants of this Census a Lottie STAFF aged 18 a Domestic servant born Romford, Essex and an Eliza PALMER aged 18 a Domestic Servant also born Romford, Essex.
1901 33 Shore Road, South East Hackney, Hackney, London, with the family was an Ellen HOUSEHOLD aged 27 a Domestic Servant birth place unknown.
  3. 1881 9 Market Street, Deal, Kent. The family were lodging with a Thomas NOBLE in Elham, Kent. Thoms was 62 a Coal Dealer, his wife Ann was 67 born Word?, Kent and they had with them their daughter Anne E aged 34 born Deal, Kent and Elizabeth SMITH Mother Widow aged 75 born Sandwich, Kent.
1911 2 Pounds Buildgs Hoxton N. On this census they are down as OFFER, not OFFOR, I assume his wife has been married before as there is a Stepdaugher a Maud Louisa aged 2 born Walworth, London
The marriage of a Henry OFFOR comes up as show in 1911 but no one else comes up with him so at present do not know wife's maiden name. However there are a number of births between 1911 and 1915 where the mothers maiden name is shown, in the West Ham area the mothers maiden name is WRIGHT the only other OFFOR births are in the Chelsea area in 1911 and then in Biggleswade district Bedfordshire with the mothers maiden name as EADY. I am told there were several children and there are for the name WRIGHT so I would think this is more than likely the correct family.
Then there is a Ethel Maude L WRIGHT born June quarter 1885 in Camberwell district, Surrey. who I think is the correct person.
Then on searching for Ethel M L WRIGHT on the BMD the marriage comes up in March quarter 1911 showing the two possible men she could have married as Henry OFFER and John E SEARY so I think that confirms that I have the correct person. The only problem is the Stepdaughter. So we can only assume that the child Maud Louisa was a child of Ethel but she was not married when she had her.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
