The following Cynthia has as notes for Sarah Ann HODSON but I think they apply to Henry and Emma as well as Sarah. (I am extracting information and changes necessary are after these notes…ie children etc)
On New Year's Eve 1855 when he was 21 Henry married Emma ASHLEY in the Baptist Chapel. Henry had left the employ of Samuel IRISH and was now working as a turf carter. Henry and Emma's first child was born in 1856 but sadly died a year later. A second son, Charles was born in March 1858 but poor Emma died of childbirth fever a few days later on 6 March and Henry was left alone to look after his baby son. For a while little Charles was looked after by Emma's family.
Also living in the village at this time was a woman called Sarah Ann HODSON who, still unmarried at 31, was considered an old maid. Family legend has it that Henry needed a wife and Sarah wanted a husband so they agreed on a marriage of convenience. Henry and Sarah, who was 6 years older than Henry, took their vows in the Parish Church on 8 November 1860.
The 1861 Census shows Henry, Sarah and baby Charles living in Bencroft next to Henry's mother, and by this time Henry had acquired 7 acres which he farmed. Despite being a marriage of convenience Sarah bore Henry 6 children altogether. In 1871 the family was living in the High Street and consisted of Charles, and Sarah's own children Walter (born in 1861), William (born in 1863), Annie (born in 1865) and Harry (born in 1869). Henry's fortunes were improving because they also had a young servant girl living with them called Ann GILES. In 1871 and 1873, two more boys were born called Thomas and Percy George.

NOTE - At the beginning of the line the name is UNNIOT and through the years it changes until today it is ONYETT. At present we are not certain as to when the name actually became ONYETT. As there are several variants in the spelling I have put the name ONYETT first on all the charts and then followed that with the spelling for that particular chart and indexed the whole line under ONYETT. ie ONYETT/UNYAT Chart 0700. The actual name as we have it appears for the actual people on the Chart.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
