  1. 1881 census - 5 Newcomen Road, Battersea, London,  (Ancestry.com has the name as LINETT)
  2. A Russell LEWIS has written to me with the following information for Agnes PAGE - Father was John Page, mother Elizabeth Page, formerly Porter. Fathers occupation shown as Inn Keeper. Research on the web reveals in William White's History, Gazetteer, and Directory of Norfolk 1845 that he ran a 'Beer House' in the village and was subsequently the landlord of the 'Crown & Anchor' Wiggenhall, Downham from 1851 to 1869. He was also shown on the 1851 census as farming seven (7) acres of land, aged 34, living with his wife Elizabeth aged 31, son John Luder Page aged 9, son Thomas Porter Page (scholar) aged 7 and daughter Mary Ann Porter (scholar) aged 6. For your info. The pub still exists! (there was a servant a Maria SMITH, aged 19 born Middleton, Norfolk and six lodgers on this Census)
  3. 1861 Census - St Germans Plain, Downham Road, Wiggenhall St German, Norfolk. They had a Servant, an Ellen NURSE, aged 20 born St Germain and two lodgers on this Census.
  4. 1871 Census - Raw Tun? Brandon, Suffolk (on the boundary of Norfolk and Suffolk) (the boundary bit appears on the Census ) They had a servant on this Census.
  5. 1841 Census - St Germans Wiggenhall, Norfolk. There are various PORTER families living in the very near vicinity to John and Elizabeth. Thomas PORTER and his wife Mary down as aged 45 and 50 respectively are the most likely parents of Elizabeth.
  6. 1881 Census - Selby Place, South Lyn, Norfolk. Jonathan and Charlotte had two children on this Census, Mabel E aged 2 and Henry E aged 3 weeks both born Lyn, Norfolk. There was a Susan WRIGHT, aged 21 originally put down as Step Sister, but the Step has been crossed through, so appears to be Sister of Charlotte, unmarried and born in E Dereham. I cannot read occupation possibly Dressmakers Assistant.
  7. 1881 Census - 11 St Johns Place, Lowestoft, Suffolk. They had a son Percy A aged 10 months on this Census.
  8. 1871 Census - 11 David Street, St Marylebone, Middlesex, London.
  9. 1881 Census - No 40 E St, Chelsea, London.
  10. 1871 Census - 17 George Street, Rectory, St Marylebone, Middlesex. Jonathan is down as a nephew staying with a Josiah PORTER aged 46 a Carpenter born Southey, Norfolk, his wife was Georgina aged 46 born Weathlington? Norfolk. No children but as well as Jonathan there was a Fanny PORTER niece aged 17 a Servant unemployed born St Germans, Norfolk. (we do not have this child on the Chart above)
  11. 1891 Census - South Street, Kings Lynn, Norfolk. - It would appear that Jonathan married again, cannot find a marriage of a Jonathan PAGE in Norfolk other than the one I have found in 1877. On this Census it is Laura, and she is 27 and born in Congham, Norfolk. Some of the children tie up with the 1881 Census and are born in Lyn. The children who are all born in Lyn were Mabel, Scholar, aged 12, Henry 10 Scholar, and Olive 5 months. I assume Olive is a child of the new marriage.
  12. 1891 Census - 10 Farrant Street, Chelsea Kensal Town, Chelsea, London. Thomas also seems to have remarried, his new wife is Sarah J, aged 28 (or 38 - line through the 2/3) born Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire.  Although a marriage comes up on the BMD there are two men and one woman, and neither are Sarah J. Just bringing up the district and quarter gives me a choice of Sarah J GILDER or Sarah J MEADER, it could be either of these but is could be just the name Sarah given and there are a lot of these in that quarter.
  13. 1901 Census - Out South Gates, South Lyn, Kings Lynn, Norfolk. Thomas and Sarah had moved back from London to Norfolk on this Census. Sarah was down as 38 so proving her age as 28 on the 1891 Census.  Also with them was a Herbert John FENN, Nephew aged 25 a Clerk at Chemical Works, born Yarmouth, Norfolk.
  14. 1891 Census - Station House, Station Road, Little Dunham, Norfolk.
  15. 1901 Census - Station House, Little Dunham, Norfolk.
  16. 1901 Census - Three Horse Shoes, Wiggenhall St Germans, Norfolk. Children all born Kings Lynn, Olive 10 Stanley 9 Violet 8 and Horace 5. They had a Domestic Servant a Kate Suterby age 15 born St Germans, Norfolk
  17. 1901 Census - 54 Huntsman Road, Wandsworth, London
  18. 1891 Census - 26 Maysoule Road, West Battersea, London There was a Kate M FENN 15 a visitor a niece born Yarmouth, Norfolk with the family on this Census.
  19. I have put this marriage down for Esther as 1871 is the last time I can find her as Esther PAGE, and then niece and nephews with the name FENN keep cropping up staying with members of the PAGE family, see note 13 and 18, born in the Yarmouth, Norfolk area so I am certain this is the correct marriage for Esther. However at present I cannot find the family on any census., so perhaps Esther and Herbert died before the 1881 Census. Now see Note 20
  20. 1881 Census - Southgate Street, South Lyn, Kings Lynne, Norfolk. I have now found Esther on this Census at this address but married to a William CANHAM, not Herbert FENN. she is the correct age an born in St Germans, Norfolk, her children correctly as Notes 13 and 18 are Herbert 6 born Great Yarmouth and Kate 5 born Great Yarmouth, both scholars, but they are down as CANHAM not FENN and then there is an Elizabeth age 1 born South Lyn, Norfolk with I would think is a child of Esther and William. This saga will continue.
  21. 1891 Census - 1 Windsor Road, South Lyn, Kings Lynn, Norfolk. And so the sage continues. Esther has now died, and the children on the Census are Elizabeth 11 born Kings Lynn, Norfolk, and Florence 9 born Kings Lynn, Norfolk, The there is Hubert FENN stepson, aged 16 a Solicitors Junior Clerk born Great Yarmouth, Norfolk and with them was Victoria A CANHAM, age 50 a Housekeeper Domestic, born Kings Lynn, Norfolk. This at least proves all the above details
  22. There is only one Herbert FENN who appears to fit the bill for the person who married Esther PAGE. I cannot find him on the 1871 Census, but on the 1851 he is with his parents George and Mary. Down as being born in 1846 in Beccles, Suffolk. Living at Goose Green Lane, Beccles his father was an Auctioneer, Estate Agent, Surveyor and Farmer of 98 Acres employing 6 Labourer's. There were five other siblings with the family. On the 1861 he is 15 and a visitor to 5 Frederick Place,  Newington, Surrey, he is down correctly as being born in Beccles and he is a Scholar, it would appear that he has a brother Arthur, aged 20 with him who is down as a Draughtsman and also born in Beccles, The family they are with are HENDERSON's but all born in Newcastle-on-Tyne, so I do not think they are related.
  23. On all of the Census returns it is down as St Germans (without the "i") and I find that is what the town is called. The Church however has the "i" in it and is St Germain. I wonder why this happened.
  24. As can be seen from Note 2 the "Rose and Anchor" is still in existence today. The following is the licensees for the period around the time John Page was the Landlord, he is show as being there from 1851 to 1869, it is interesting to note that a John Porter was the previous Landlord and that John Page married an Elizabeth Porter. The list of landlords is as follows -  JAMES RINGWOOD 1836 , JOHN PORTER 1845 , JOHN PAGE 1851 - 1869 , HENRY EARL 1871 - 1875 , CHARLES CARTER 1879 - 1933  (this is taken from a Norfolk Public Houses website)
  25. Jonathan address on the 1901 Census down as Innkeeper in 1901 however using the same web site as Note 24 the list of landlords does not show Jonathan. Mrs E. DYE 1892
WILLIAM SELF 1896 - 1900 ROBERT BELHAM 1904 . As can be seen there is a gap in the list they supply between 1900 and 1904. This public house closed in 1953.
  26. 1881 Census  - Out South Gates, South Lyn, Kings Lynn, Norfolk - I think this is Elizabeth on this Census. She is the right age, a widow which is possible because I cannot find John and she is a licensed victualler, which is again possible as that is what her husband was. Also she is living at Out South Gates, South Lyn, which is where a lot of the family lived. The only problem is that she is down as being born in South Lyn, not St German. However I still think it is correct. There are no children with her, just a servant and two lodgers.
  27. Having now found that Elizabeth was in Kings Lynn in 1881 I think that this is John's death on the BMD
  28. 1891 Census - Out South Gates, South Lyn, Kings Lynn, Norfolk. Elizabeth is still the Licensed Victualler, at this Public House, She is now 72 down as being born in Southery and she only has a servant with her. This Public House is next to another, the Highland Laddie.
  29. 1901 Census - Windsor Row, South Lynn, Kings Lynn, Norfolk.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
