    Confusion!
There is a Clara Jane birth in 1873 and a death in 1879 in the Portsea District, Hampshire. With a death in 1879 this Clara would not appear on a census
On the 1881 census there is a Clara Louisa born 1874 Portsea. But there is no registration for a Clara Louise in the Portsea District in 1873-1879
There is an Ada Louisa born in the same quarter, June 1873 and it was thought that perhaps they were twins, and for some reason, when Clara died, they called the surviving child by her name, but the two girls appear on different pages of the index. Was Clara Jane sickly when born and registered immediately, while the registration for the other child was a more leisurely affair? Answer unknown!
But then a marriage was found for an Ada Louisa SANDFORD in the September quarter of 1898 in the Paddington District, London. In the same district, in the same quarter, Clara Louisa's mother remarried and two years later Clara's brother married in the same district.
On ancestry.com there has been some confusion over the indexing of the marriages in the September quarter 1898. Ada Louisa is actually entered twice in the index, in one entry, which is the right one as shown by the 1901 census, there are two men and two women; in the other entry which appears to be inaccurate, there are three men and three women, one man is shown as being married in St George Hanover Square so should not be there. I believe that this second marriage is for Emily Jane SANDFORD who is one of the other names in the entry. Both Ada Louisa and Emily Jane appear on the actual page of the index, not with consecutive numbers so it was not a double wedding!
  9. 1881 22 Little Chester Street, St George, Belgrave, Middlesex as Clara Louise (see notes)
    1891 Not found
1901 3 Albert Street, Braintree, Essex as Ada L

It has been decided to assume that the child was registered as Ada Louisa, was called Clara Louisa in 1881, but reverted to Ada Louisa when she married.

The age of 28 is what it looks like on the 1881 Census, but if it is it would mean that Harry was born in 1853 and we have him on the 1861 as single with his parents. As he has an occupation I think he must have been born before he married Angelina in which case it is possibly that William Sherwood PARLETT was in fact married three times. I think I have now solved this child, I think he was born as Henry SPIKINS and Angelina is the one that who was married before and it was a child from that marriage. I have found Angelina on the 1871 Census with William her husband, and three children
There is a registration for a Henry SPIKINS in June quarter 1857 in St Pancras district, it is possibly that this is the correct person. There is a Sarah who I hve born in 1857 but it is a job to see her age on the 1871 Census, she could be 17 as she is a Book Binder, so to be 14 is possibly a bit young, but the problem with this is that her mother Angelina would have been only 15 when she had her. Again I have had several case where

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
