     Margaret JARVIS has Charlotte’s Bible, and a sampler completed by her. One of Margaret’s cousins has another sampler, while another cousin has a sampler “Mary BROOKER, her sampler finished 12th October 1768”
    Illegitimate daughter of Sarah SHEPPARD. Sarah married James SHURLOCK on the 27th December 1849 as his second wife. James owned what is now Manfield Park, when it was a brickworks. (Also owned by Frederick MANFIELD and his wife Ann née STEVENS, sister of James.) James died on the 21st August 1852 at Thornsflush, Cranley, Surrey Sarah was the daughter of William SHEPPARD and his wife Ruth, née WOODS. They married on the 16th July 1795 at Hascombe, Surrey. William was lock-keeper at Cranleigh on the old canal. Sarah was baptised on the 13th October 1799. After she was widowed she lived at Underslaws with Charles and Charlotte as a dressmaker. On her marriage certificate Charlotte’s father is shown as Hine ? HUNT, bargeman
