  1. 1841 Rudgwick, Sussex
1844 Whitehall, Cranley, Surrey (baptism of Sarah)
1847 Rudgwick, Sussex (baptism of John)
1851 Rudgwick Street, Rudgwick, Sussex. Lodging with them was John WALLER (25) unmarried Ag Lab born Rudgwick, Sussex (This John WALLER married Harriet STEMP a sister of Sarah. Matilda, daughter of Edward and Sarah became the "Grannie SIMMONS" long talked about by John WALLER's granddaughter, Winifred WILTON née COBB)
1858 Ewhurst, Surrey (baptism of Kate)
1861 Bungtlore, Ewhurst, Surrey. Lodging with them was Joseph COLEMAN (38) Unmarried Bricklayer born Wotton, Surrey
1871 Census - Bunglou?, Ewhurst, Surrey. There was also Matilda's son as Edward TICKNER at 11 months, shown as Grandson with them. He is shown on Ancestry.com index as being born in 1860 but they have picked up the 10 months as 10 years.
1881 Census - Bungtore, Ewhurst, Surrey
1891 Census - Bungtore, Ewhurst, Surrey - There was a lodger a Harry HOLT, age 23, born Rudgwick, Sussex
1901 Census -Hambledon Union Workhouse, Hambledon, Surrey.  I think that Edward and Sarah TICKNER were both still alive as I have found a couple with the right ages, but in Hambledon Union Workhouse. My only doubt is that they are both down as being born in Ewhurst, Surrey. I think this is correct as it is where they lived most of their lives, but the were actually born in Wisborough Green and Cranley (Cranleigh).
1904 Hambledon Union Infirmary (address given at burial)
Brother to William TICKNER. Parents - William and Elizabeth TICKNER. William was a Labourer. A possible marriage date is 28th December 1813, between William TICKNER and Elizabeth PENFOLD at Wisborough Green. Information about the TICKNER family can be obtained from A G TICKNER, 4 Pound Place Close, Shalford, Guildford, Surrey GU4 8HL.
John FIELD is a descendant of Henry TICKNER, baptised 24th July 1814 Wisborough Green, Sussex, the brother of William and Edward. Further information can be obtained from John FIELD at 33 Glebelands, Filton, Bristol, BS12 7AD
1 have found this family on the 1871 Census, I am certain it is the correct one but there are some discrepancies between the information we had and what appears on this census. I started by searching for Matilda SIMMONS on the 1871 Census as according to our information John and Matilda had had a son in 1870. I could not find them but searched for Matilda born 1849 in Rudgwick and found her still at home as unmarried. Edward, Sarah, Matilda and Alfred are as per above. There is no William, Sarah, Clara or Alice, but there is a John and Kate which I will add to the Chart. I now notice that there is a Ernest William TICKNER, Grandson, so this must be the child of Matilda which appears on SIMMONS Chart 0400, but they were not married when they had him. I will alter the surname on SIMMONS Chart 0400. They were living in Bungtore, Ewhurst, Surrey

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
