1911 18 Strode Road, Fulham Cross S W. Amelia is down as having been married 20 years and having had 8 children all of whom survive at the date of this Census.
I believe that I have found the correct marriage for William to Charlotte Amelia HYATT but after this marriage she appears to have gone by her second name Amelia. A sister of William also married a HYATT which makes me believe this is correct.

lGiven the information we have available it is likely that William Roberts Whittlesey was entitled to the Victory medal, also called the Inter Allied Victory Medal. This medal was awarded to all who received the 1914 Star or 1914-15 Star and, with certain exceptions, to those who received the British War Medal. It was never awarded alone. These three medals were sometimes irreverently referred to as Pip, Squeak and Wilfred.
Eligibility for this award consisted of having been mobilised, fighting, having served in any of the theatres of operations, or at sea, between midnight 4th/5th August, 1914, and midnight, 11th/12th November, 1918. Women who served in any of the various military organisations in a theatre of operations were also eligible.
    British War Medal
From the information available to us, it is very possible that William Roberts Whittlesey was entitled to the British War Medal for service in World War One. This British Empire campaign medal was issued for services between 5th August 1914 and 11th November 1918.
The medal was automatically awarded in the event of death on active service before the completion of this period.

I have used the London Electoral Roll to see who was with the various children on the chart above, this giving me the christian names of their wives and therefore enabling me to confirm correct marriages on the BMD. There are a lot more entries that could be made for the Electoral Roll but at present I think what I have looked at gives enough information for the chart above. I do not intend looking for the children for them as marriages took place after 1918 and therefore most of the children are still likely to be alive today.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
