Was he brought up by his Uncle Thomas and Aunt Mary?
In the Birth Index the 1843 entry was the only Frederick/Frederick Thomas/Thomas/Thomas Frederick WHITTLESEA/WHITTLESEY birth registration in Cambridgeshire up until 1856
It is the same reference as the registration for Rebecca so we have assumed they were twins.
However, we have no other information for this Frederick Thomas
A Thomas Frederick WHITTLESEY of the right age (but no birth registration) appears on census returns with the family of Thomas and Mary WHITTLESEY as their eldest son. In 1861, living with Thomas and Mary, is shown as Frederick. Thomas and Mary were the uncle and Aunt of this Frederick Thomas (probable twin of Rebecca) as he was brother to William, the father of Frederick Thomas.
In 1843 when Rebecca and Frederick Thomas were born William had just remarried, he had two children by his first wife that his new wife would have to look after (they were 7 and 5) and then she has twins....so perhaps William's brother and his wife helped out by taking one of the babies, Frederick Thomas, and bringing him up as their own son, Thomas Frederick.
Information has been added for these two families on this assumption

Note for convenience I have called all the WHITTLESEY charts WHITTLESEY. This is not what they are all named, it shows as WHITTLESAY, WHITTLESEA etc.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
