Birth and death details IGI. As they have the parents down as Thomas YARROW and Mary SMITH I am fairly certain that they are the same parents as for Peter YARROW. There are lots of YARROW's on the IGI in Henham, Essex, so I am sure we will find other siblings.
Birth and baptism details taken from the IGI. Father is down as being a Thomas YARROW, mother a Mary.
Details of baptism taken from the Henham History site at http://www.henhamhistory.org. The children' birth etc  of James and Mary which I will show on YARROW Chart 0700 on this site all correspond to what we had, BUT the mother is shown as Mary REED not Mary PHILLIPS which was the information we were given. The marriage on the BMD shows  a Mary PHILLIPS, so where does the REED come in. Was her maiden name possibly REED and this is what went down on the Baptisms but she had married briefly before to a PHILLIPS so when she married this was the name she gave. As can be seen all of the births in England tie up with what we already had, but on every on the mother has been put down as Mary REED.
  2. 1851 Census - Henham Village, Henham, Essex
1861 Census - Henham Hall, Henham, Essex
1870 US Census -  Republican, Clay, Kansas; Roll: M593_430; Page: 193; Image: 386.

I have now found the baptism of Mary PHILLIPS on the http://www.henhamhistory.org. web site. This shows her as being baptised as Mary PHILLIP with father as Peter REED and mother as Rhoda Ann PHILLIPS. So perhaps they were not married at her birth but were at the baptism, so she kept the surname PHILLIPS as her mother for her marriage information etc. This baptism also give the information for her death in Kansas, USA which we did not have before. (I cannot find a marriage for a REED to a PHILLIPS in Henham)
  3. 1851 Census - Henham Village, Henham, Essex
I believe that the first three children died within a short time of each other, which possibly prompted James and Mary to move to the USA. On the 1870 Census in the USA we start with Eliza, with no trace of the first three children. I cannot find on any Census either in the United Kingdom or the United States. I have found a James death in Bishops Stortford in 1852 which could be the correct one, we had a death date given to us for Bestsey and there is a Charles death but with not area given in the March quarter of 1853, this also show a Betsey YARROW death, but as I have already stated we had her death down as being in 1852.
On 24th January 2009 I was directed to the Henham History Web Site, this enabled me to find the burials of the first three children, it is interesting to note that Charles, aged 6 and Betsey aged 3 were buried on the same day in St Mary's Church, Henham, I wonder what the cause of death was. James died later the same year.

Alfred was Head of Household, no one else with him. I have been trying to see if there is a connection this Alfred YARROW and Alice YARROW on DRING Chart 0624. The father of Alice was born in Henham in Essex as was Alfred above. Unfortunately I cannot find Alice and Alfred on the same Census, so at present cannot prove if their was a connection. I have now found Alfred with his parents on the 1870 US Census and it is James and Mary. I still think there might be a connection, now that Alfred's father, James and Alice's father Peter were brothers. Have found YARROW's on the 1851 Census. The only ones in Essex are in Henham, and they are all living together, but as two households. There is a family with a James YARROW as the head with a son James and the next family has a Mary YARROW as the Head with a Peter as a son. The James we want was not born until after the 1851 Census, so again cannot prove anything. Will have to check the ages of the James and Peter to see if they tie in at all.

This is a new child on the 1880 Census, she if down as daughter and it is possibly Eleanor, but the handwriting makes it difficult to decipher and it looks like Elemer. She is living with Joseph on 1900 Census and it just looks like Ella on this Census.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
