  1. 1861 Census - 11 Eider Place,  Burslam, Staffordshire.
1871 Census - 64 South Street, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. The second names all being unusual ones and difficult to read, will have to find on BMD as some stage.
    1881 South Street, Ilkeston, Derbyshire.
1891 Census - 2 Market Place, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. With the family was a Dorothy WELLS, a widow, aged 87 born Higham, Leicestershire. She is down as Mother-in-Law. I am sure it would be the mother of Lucy, so have added this as her maiden name until we can prove otherwise. (Now told that the maiden name was CANAL so possibly it was Dorothy WELLS second marriage.
1901 Census - 34 Dale Street, Ilkeston, Derbyshire
  2. 1851 Census - St Giles Street, Norwich St Giles, Norwich, Norfolk. A Susan SMITH aged 37 was the head of household, a Milliner. Lucy is down as a visitor but there are other Milliner's Milliner's Apprentices in the household.
1861 Census - 11 Eider Place,  Burslam, Staffordshire.
1871 Census - 64 South Street, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. The second names all being unusual ones and difficult to read, will have to find on BMD as some stage.
  3. 1854 Harrods Place, Well Close, Wapping, Middlesex (baptism)
1861 Census - Harrods Place, Wapping, Middlesex.
    1871 Not found
1881 South Street, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. - I had found the marriage in Note 2 and then found a Paulina FROST born Wapping in 1856, so it must be the right person. When I opened the Census I found that there were six children in a range of ages from 19 to 2, so there could not all be the children of Paulina. The age of William is 46, Paulina is 26. From this William must have been married before. I then search the 1871 Census for a William FROST born in Bocking and found that William's first wife was a Lucy. She was 34 and born in Higham, Leicestershire.
1911 Census - 32 Gregory St Ilkeston, Derbyshire, With Paulina and her daughter were two boarders, Percy John COMPTON, born 1884 an Ironmonger born Bowerchalk, Wiltshire and Arthur John BROWN born 1888 a Pawnbroker born Burton on Trent, Staffordshire
    Marriage details from BMD
  4. 1861 Census - 11 Eider Place,  Burslam, Staffordshire.
1871 Census - 64 South Street, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. The second names all being unusual ones and difficult to read, will have to find on BMD as some stage.
1881 Census - 4 North Street, Ilkeston, Derbyshire
1889 An informant Doreen tells me that Lucy and John went to the US on the Britannic from Liverpool on 21st Aug 1889 and returned to the UK 1894.
1891 Cannot find on the 1891 Census at the present time, but seeing on the 1901 Census Archibald is shown as being born in New York, USA, I expect that was where they were. I have searched on the 1891 US Census, but it is not a complete Census and I cannot find them.
1901 Census - "Nags Head" 72 Derby Road, Heanor, Derbyshire
1901 An informant Doreen tells me that Lucy and John returned to the US on the SS Majestic on 17th Feb 1904 from Liverpool arriving Port of New York 6th July 1904.
  5. 1861 Census - 11 Eider Place,  Burslam, Staffordshire.

1891 Census - 14 St Mary's Street, St Mary Bedford, Bedfordshire. A Housekeeper to a Thomas Percy GRAHAM and his two sisters.

Although I have found a definite marriage on the BMD, ie George Pilling FROST, I cannot find on the 1901 Census.
Have now found that George Pilling FROST applied for US Naturalisation on 9th November 1897 in King's County, New York USA.

They also have a son Albert aged 5 born Jersey, USA.

The idea of these charts is to give the information that we have found in the research we have done and put together and with the help of many other people who have contacted us over the past thirty odd years we have been researching our family. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
