In a letter to Stephan PYENTA Roy WHEATON wrote in 1997 the "John and family moved to California in the early 1860s and had a vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley". On the Land Patents web site: http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/PatentSearch/Results.asp?Accession=OROCAA+00 7816 there is an entry for a John and Eliza WHEATON in Oregon on the 4/18/1885 for 196.21 acres. The document number was 4052, but unfortunately this was one of the documents which could not be accessed. The Legal Land Description showed the "Meridian" as Williamette, the "State" as Oregon and the "County" as Linn. Other headings where "Aliquot Parts"/"Sec.Block"/"Township"/"Range"/"Remarks" .
